Italian Bronze Baby-Head Mould in Original Industrial Frame

An extraordinary piece of Italian industrial history: three bronze infant-head rotational moulds preserved together in their original production assembly.

Made in Italy in the mid-20th century, the three softly modelled faces remain unaltered, carrying the oxidation, patina and traces of production residue accumulated through their working life. The moulds remain mounted within their original steel framework and stone base, rather than having been separated or adapted as decorative objects.

Originally used in the production of infant or doll heads, the exact manufacturer has not yet been identified. The repetition of the three serene faces against the raw geometry of steel and stone gives the assembly an unexpectedly sculptural presence.

Outside its original factory setting, the piece sits naturally between industrial archaeology, found-object sculpture and cabinet-of-curiosities collecting — an unusual survivor of the manufacturing process itself.
