Mid-Century Kidney-Shaped Coffee Table with Black Glass Top
CHF 150
A low Mid-Century coffee or side table with an organic kidney-shaped, also called amoeba-shaped, silhouette, dating most likely from the 1950s to 1960s.
The table combines a black glass top with a light, slightly architectural metal base. Its softly curved outline is typical of the playful, modern furniture language of the Mid-Century period. The underside of the glass is ribbed, which adds an additional visual texture and depth, while the top surface shows light signs of age and use.
The base consists of slender, bent metal supports with side D-ring details that function both as construction and as a distinctive design element. The frame appears to have originally been brass and was later finished or overpainted in a silver tone; slight wear reveals brass-coloured areas beneath.
With its compact proportions, low height and sculptural outline, the piece works well as a coffee table, side table or decorative low table. A characteristic 1950s–1960s design with a clear Mid-Century presence.
