French Faux Bamboo Wall Mirror – Circa 1910
CHF 145
A French wall mirror from the early 20th century, with a warm faux-bamboo wooden frame and original mirror glass. The frame is made from turned wood shaped to imitate bamboo canes, a decorative style closely associated with Chinoiserie and Japonisme influences around 1900.
The warm brown wood finish allows the grain to remain visible, while fine gold-toned accent lines at the bamboo nodes highlight the structure of the frame. The result is decorative but not overly ornate: light, architectural and quietly playful.
The mirror plate is original and retains a clear usable reflection, with light age-related silvering and surface marks consistent with its age. This gives the piece an authentic antique character without reducing its decorative presence.
