Large Signed Mdina Glass Vase, Malta, 1970s
CHF 120
A large vintage Mdina Glass vase from Malta, signed to the base and retaining its original maker’s label. With its height of 38.5 cm, this is a notably tall and decorative example of Maltese studio glass.
The vase shows Mdina’s characteristic layered colour language: deep blue, turquoise, sandy beige and earthy brown tones are drawn through the glass in organic, slightly twisted movement. The elongated bottle form gives the piece an elegant vertical presence, while the wide, flattened rim adds a strong sculptural finish.
Mdina Glass was founded in Malta in 1968 and became known for expressive, hand-formed glass inspired by the colours of sea, sand, earth and sky. This vase fits well within the classic Mdina aesthetic of the 1970s: atmospheric, fluid, decorative and unmistakably Mediterranean.
A striking large-scale piece of Maltese art glass — ideal as a standalone vase, a decorative glass object, or part of a curated vintage glass collection.
