BLACK & WHITE GLASS VASE - engraved, Murano, 1950

Tall, slender and wonderfully graphic.

This hand-blown glass vase combines smoky black and white decoration in a strong repeating pattern, giving the surface an almost architectural rhythm. At 46 cm high, its narrow silhouette makes it particularly striking.

The base carries an unusually extensive hand-engraved inscription:

1950 – ARTE di Murano Il Misio ITALIA 1950 VETRI

Both Murano / Italia and the year 1950 are therefore documented directly on the piece. The wording “Il Misio” is also part of the engraving, although we have not been able to connect it with certainty to a documented Murano glassworks or designer.

A rather intriguing piece — clearly marked, beautifully made, yet still leaving one part of its story open.
