Vintage Italian Acorn Ice Bucket, Coltelli Bologna, 1960s–1970s
CHF 210
A wonderfully characterful Italian ice bucket in the form of an oversized acorn, dating most likely from the 1960s–1970s. It is the kind of bar object that sits somewhere between functional serveware and sculptural table piece — playful, decorative and unmistakably mid-century.
The lower body is silver-toned metal with a lively, irregular patina that almost echoes the natural surface of an acorn shell. The domed lid contrasts in warm golden metal and is decorated with a raised scale pattern, while the curved stem adds a finely detailed silver-toned accent.
Inside, the piece has an insulating plastic liner, making it functional as an ice bucket. Equally, it works beautifully as unusual storage, a decorative table object, or a distinctive addition to a vintage bar setting.
Comparable acorn-shaped ice buckets are often associated with Italian makers such as Teghini Firenze. This particular example carries a Coltelli Bologna label and should therefore be described more carefully as Italian production with a Bologna retail label, in the manner of mid-century Italian figural barware.
