Rare Kralik Art Deco cigar lighter lamp with owl motif

CHF 480

A stunning and unusual piece of Art Deco design — this cigar lighter with integrated bedside lamp was likely produced by Kralik Glassworks (Bohemia, early 20th century).

The base features a cast owl in relief, symbolising wisdom (or late-night mischief), and is made from a bronze-like metal with smooth flowing lines and a stylised Art Nouveau/Deco fusion.

The lamp top is a beautiful yellow-green caged glass globe, highly reminiscent of Kralik's signature glasswork, with a metal top where the cigar lighter mechanism would have been. Whether functional or not today, the object holds exceptional decorative and collector's value as a rare survivor from a time when lighting your cigar was an art form.

It’s the kind of thing you'd expect in the corner of a private club, on a film noir desk, or in the hands of someone named Maximilian.
