Bronze Baby Head Mold Sculpture – Industrial Relic with Archival Detail
Industrial Artifact · Archival Integrity · Emotional Resonance
CHF 2'600
A hauntingly expressive bronze baby head mold sculpture, mounted in its original industrial steel frame — completely preserved in its authentic state.
Three serene and softly contoured baby faces, untouched by cutting spouts or later alterations, gaze quietly forward. One head still holds its original silicone insert, offering a rare glimpse into its past life as a sculptural casting form.
Originally used in mid-20th-century European artisan production, most molds like this were melted down after use — their history lost to industry. This one survived. This one did.
It survives with full patina, original frame, and remarkable archival detail. With its robust bronze presence and industrial charm, it slips easily between steampunk, curiosity-cabinet intrigue, and avant-garde interior styling.
✨ Collector’s Note
This is more than a bronze mold — it’s a survivor. In both sculpture and industry, molds were rarely kept once their purpose was served. Most were dismantled, repurposed, or destroyed — erasing the very vessels that shaped beauty.
Even in the Musée Rodin (Meudon) and the Rodin Museum (Philadelphia), molds are treated as sacred working relics, preserved under strict ethical guidelines. Few remain in public view.
Here, the bronze heads rest undisturbed — their serene expressions unchanged for decades. The silicone insert remains in place, an ephemeral detail almost never retained. Framed in aged steel, the whole piece feels like a salvaged memory: a relic rescued from the churn of industrial disappearance.
To display it is to honour the artistry behind creation itself. To collect it is to hold onto a fragment of cultural heritage before it vanishes for good.
