London Underground enamel sign – Swiss Cottage bullseye
CHF 4'500
An authentic and exceedingly rare London Underground enamel target sign — known as a "bullseye" — from the Swiss Cottage station.
Featuring the iconic red and blue roundel, this heavy enamel sign includes its original bronze frame and is now mounted on a hand-crafted wooden panel designed with a classic tile look — a respectful nod to the walls of London’s deep-level tube stations.
This particular example is not museum-perfect — and that’s exactly its charm. There's a visible hole in the enamel (possibly an impact or service-related mark), and natural age wear along the bronze frame. It’s full of character and absolutely one-of-a-kind.
The sign is documented in the GW Railwayana Auctions archive (Lot 107, November 2018), confirming its authenticity and rarity among pre-war London Transport signage.
