Pair of Murano Cristallo Lamps with Gold Leaf, Rigadin Ribbing & Bullicante Bubbles
CHF 780
A beautifully matched pair of Murano glass lamp bases, hand‑blown in clear cristallo and enriched with gold leaf and shimmering flecks. The spherical bodies feature a dynamic swirled ribbed design, creating a lively interplay of light and shadow. Each lamp sits on a scalloped glass pedestal, adding sculptural refinement.
Within the glass, the bubbles suggest a bullicante technique — their original grid subtly softened and stretched by the rigadin moulding and the natural movement of the gold leaf during blowing. This creates an organic, shimmering internal landscape that feels both luxurious and alive.
The craftsmanship and material language align with mid‑century Murano work by Seguso Vetri d’Arte, Barovier & Toso, and Arte Vetraria Muranese, known for combining ribbed forms, gold inclusions, and layered cristallo.
The lamps retain their original GESO paper label, identifying the German retailer or distributor who sold them. This was a common mid‑century practice: Murano glass bodies were exported to Germany and Austria, where they were assembled into lamps and sold under local shop labels.
